Title: Chapter 31: A Sort Of Homecoming - Part 3

In Earth orbit, Nova continues his battle against the asteroid attack launched by Warbringer.

However, Sam isn't able to stop them all and he watches helplessly as it plummets towards Earth. Suddenly, the space rock explodes in a blast of power!

Nova is shocked and very happy to see Beta Ray Bill as the one delivering the counter attack. Bill instructs his young friend to stop the asteroids at their source. Sam wonders if Beta Ray Bill can handle the incoming swarm alone. The Korbinite explains he is not alone.

Suddenly, Rocket Raccoon and a number of the Avengers appear!

As Nova begins his flight towards deep space, he is surprised to find himself encountering Warbringer's ship just beyond Pluto. The Chitauri warrior has brought the fight to him!

Sam Alexander decides to attack first and blasts his way through the ship's hull. Sam grabs Warbringer and knocks him through the other side of the ship into space. The Chitauri fighter explains that the attack on Earth is not a personal dispute but is a message to the rest of the galactic civilizations that the Chitauri are not to be crossed.

The two combatants continue exchanging punches, insults and threats. However when Warbringer informs Nova that he has destroyed stars in order to annihilate planets, the boast gives Sam an idea. Nova grabs his enemy and begins a death dive into Earth's sun!

Warbringer refuses to surrender and Nova tells him that their deaths will be a small price to pay for Earth's survival. The two disappear into the Sun.

Miraculously, the young hero from Earth emerges from the other side of the Sun! Warbringer does not.

Realizing he wouldn't survive another trip into the Sun, Nova takes Warbringer's surviving arm and shows it to the Chitauri. He demands all the prisoners be released and that the war is over. The Chitauri agree.

Later on Earth's moon, Jesse Alexander and Sam join Rocket Raccoon and Beta Ray Bill at the monument Sam built for the Watcher.

After the heroes say their goodbyes to each other, Sam and Jesse head back home to Earth. Jesse Alexander thanks his son and tells him he is proud of him.

Back in Carefree, Arizona, the two Alexanders approach the front door to their apartment. As they enter, Eva Alexander looks up to see her husband. Jesse, Eva, Sam and Kaelynn all embrace as a family.

Later, Sam walks outside to see his father looking up into space. Sam apologizes that he didn't do more to save their house and they were forced to live in an apartment. Jesse reminds his son that he saved his family and everyone on Earth and was even able to stay in school.

Jesse Alexander also points out that Sam didn't even scratch his helmet. Sam is caught off guard by Jesse referring to the helmet as his and not his son's.

As they all sit down to dinner, Eva tells both of them that they can worry about the helmet later.

Light years away, a Chitauri soldier works diligently to restore a horribly burnt, but still alive, Warbringer!
