Sam takes his skateboard and kicks it towards Titus and knocks the Nova helmet out of his hand. The young hero catches the helmet in mid-air, puts it on and releases a powerful energy blast while making it clear to Titus that nobody touches his helmet!
For a moment, Sam is afraid that he disintegrated Titus but quickly realizes that he simply blasted him across town. Nova grabs the Ultimate Nullifier from the trash can he hid it. As he leaves to find his attacker, Sam notices that his mother Eva Alexander has been watching him from the house.
Across town at the Carefree Skate Park, Karl Moffet, Carrie and a couple of other teenagers are bored and looking for something to do. Suddenly, Titus crashes into the ground in front of them! Nova arrives at the same time and tells the teens to leave for their own safety.
Sam and his father's former ally begin fighting with Nova protecting his classmates from Titus's gunfire. Titus targets Carrie but his shot is blocked by Sam! Nova grabs the tiger-like alien and space-jumps the two of them back to Jupiter and the Chitauri armada! Titus threatens to rip Nova's helmet off and Sam points out that he won't be able to breathe since they are in outer space. The alien informs his foe that human biology doesn't apply to all life-forms in the universe.
The Earth hero changes tactics and pulls out the Nullifier! Sam demands that Titus and the Chitauri leave the solar system and never come back. Titus attempts to take the weapon from Nova which causes the Ultimate Nullifier to accidentally activate and create an enormous energy vortex! The entire Chitauri armada and Titus are sucked into the whirlpool and disappear!
After the vortex closes, Nova turns to find Gamora and Rocket Raccoon. The two Guardians congratulated Sam and Rocket finally calls him Nova. Gamora informs him that they will take the Nullifier for safe-keeping. Sam disagrees and says they taught him not to trust anybody and flies into space. Rocket Raccoon mentions that Sam is more like his father Jesse Alexander than they realized.
Later, on Earth's Moon, Nova hands the Ultimate Nullifier to the Watcher as he suspects that it belonged to him in the first place.
Back in Carefree, Arizona, Eva Alexander tells Sam the story of his birth sixteen years ago. She tells him that even though his father was a Black Nova, he was able to keep his promise and be there when Sam was born. Her son tells her that he believes his father is still alive regardless of what Titus told him. Sam promises his mother that he will find him no matter how long it takes.
Somewhere out in the universe, a man on a prison planet looks to the stars. Jesse Alexander is alive and calls out his son's name.
