Sam Alexander and his mother Eva Alexander rush towards the garage to save Kaelynn and Abuelita from the Cancerverse creature. Eva takes Abuelita away but Sam is snatched by the monster. Sam's mother and grandmother grab a shovel and hoe and begin chopping off the creature's tentacles! Sam is able to get free and runs to his room for his Black Nova helmet.

Flying into action, Sam has Eva take his grandmother to safety while he saves Kaelynn. Sam Alexander Nova begins blasting the creature. Sam realizes the monster from the Cancerverse is searching for the lingering Nova Force in the helmets from his shrine. He attempts to overload the creature with a massive blast. However, it only strengthens the monster and it unleashes a blast of its own which knocks Sam through the ground.

Kaelynn screams for someone to help her brother. Suddenly, Richard Rider appears and rips off the creature's tentacles!

Sam and Rich team up and begin fighting the Cancerverse monster. During the battle, the younger Nova asks his older mentor why the creatures continue to attack Rich. Before Rich Rider can answer, the Novas are grabbed by more tentacles.

To save the teen hero, Richard Rider Nova metamorphosizes into a hybrid of human and Cancerverse creature! In his altered state, Rich begins pulling open the attacking monster freeing Sam. Rich tells Sam to grab his sister and blast the Cancerverse creature from the inside where it's vulnerable. Sam Alexander grabs Kaelynn and unleashes a massive energy explosion! With the creature injured, Rich Rider sends it back into an opening to the Cancerverse.

With the threat gone, Sam approaches Rich and asks him about his condition. Rich explains that he is still Rich Rider but something came back with him from the Cancerverse. Sam is angry that his fellow Nova didn't tell him earlier and allowed his family to be in danger. The younger Nova hits the weakened Nova repeatedly while yelling that everyone lies to him.

Rich apologizes to Sam for not telling him earlier. He explains that he only wanted to come back home so badly that he cheated in order to find a way. The elder Nova admits that he thought he had escaped the Cancerverse but now understands that it followed him back.

Suddenly, an enormous rip from the Cancerverse opens in the sky before the Novas! Sam asks Rich how do they stop it. His mentor tells his young friend to protect his family and that he has to fight this battle alone. Rich further explains that he is the living door to the Cancerverse and he must close it permanently. Sam tells him that there must be another way. Rich Rider tells Sam Alexander that his sacrifice is for the greater good of the universe. The elder Nova flies into the rip and pulls it closed behind him.

Inside the Cancerverse, Richard Rider Nova bravely faces an entire universe determined to go down fighting. Suddenly, he hears a familiar voice talking to him about how things have changed since Rich left him behind.

Rich Rider is shocked to realize the voice belongs to the WorldMind!
