Sam Alexander hears his sister Kaelynn scream out in the night and runs to her room. Kaelynn admits to her brother that she had a nightmare. She dreamt that Sam left to find their father and didn't come back.

Also in her dream, everything got very dark and she could no longer see their mother. Sam reassures her that nothing bad is going to happen and she'll never be alone. Kaelynn smiles and goes back to bed.

When Sam gets back to his bedroom, he finds his Nova helmet is blinking. He doesn't know what it's a signal for and worries that the helmet might need a software update or is low on power. He puts on the Nova helmet and receives a message from the good Jesse clone. The clone tells him that he has found the Chitauri cloning ship where he was created.

As Jesse's clone requests Sam to come help him stop the Chitauri, he is attacked! Nova immediately flies off and quickly arrives at the alien ship. The Chitauri open fire on the teen hero but Sam swiftly blasts their weapons into debris.

After landing in the ship's docking bay, a number of robots converge on Nova. Sam is able to fly deeper into the ship and almost avoids the robotic attack. However, one alien missile is able to explode next to Sam and he is knocked to the ground by the explosion.

When Sam looks up, he finds himself facing a laboratory full of cylinders. Inside each one of them is a clone of Jesse Alexander!

On the lab's floor, Nova finds the good clone's helmet. As he picks it up, another group of robots enters and begins attacking Sam! The energy blasts tear apart the floor and the Earth teenager falls through. The destruction not only destroyed the laboratory but also all of the Jesse clones. As Sam looks at the dead clones, he hears someone whisper his name.

Nova turns to see the good Jesse clone in the debris and he is dying. The clone admits to Sam that the original Jesse is not on the ship. He thought he would be but later discovered he was not aboard. Sam Alexander runs to get Jesse's Nova helmet and get him help. The Jesse clone tells him it's too late. He also reveals that he has placed explosives all over the Chitauri ship and is holding the detonator.

Sam still refused to give up his efforts to help the clone. Suddenly, the robots arrive and begin another attack. With his last effort, the Jesse clone pushes the detonator! As Nova flies at high speed out of the ship, the Chitauri vessel explodes!

As Sam floats unconscious in space, he believes he sees the image of his father in a Nova uniform. When he awakens, he sees Jesse's helmet floating in front of him. He holds the helmet close and then flies off back to Earth.

When he arrives home, he wakes up his mother. Sam explains what happened to the clone and how his father is still missing. He tells her that he has to go find Jesse and can't come back until he finds him. Eva understands and asks him what she should tell his sister. Sam Alexander replies that she should tell her that he promises to come back.

As he prepares to leave Earth, he contacts Iron Man. He explains that he is going to finish the search for his father and wanted the Avengers to know why he is gone.

Tony Stark offers the Avengers's aid in Sam's quest.
