Eva is finally able to wake up Sam so he can get to school in time. The teen grabs his Nova helmet and his mom drives him to school.

At Carefree High School, his teacher Ms. Jackson announces to the tardy Sam Alexander and the rest of the class that they will be having a pop quiz on the weekend's reading. Sam had completely forgotten about his homework and fails the quiz.

At lunch, Sam sits with his friends and they ask him about his weekend. Sam simply answers that he and his parents were busy. His friends don't believe him which causes the irritated hero to yell at them and he walks away claiming he has homework to finish.

At his locker, Sam finds himself face to face with the imposter who is posing as Jesse Alexander. The angry youth throws him into the lockers and demands to know where is real father is. Suddenly, the lunch bell rings and they take their conversation outside behind the bleachers of the school's football stadium.

The man posing as Jesse explains that he is a clone of Sam's father. He further informs Nova that he was created by the Chitauri in order to steal the Black Nova helmet.

Sam Alexander asks about his real father but the clone has no information on his current status. The clone explains that he enjoyed spending time with the Alexander family and continually ignored his orders to kill them. He further informs Sam that the Chitauri will send someone else to claim the helmet and will most likely be more violent.

Suddenly, the stadium bleachers explode as a fiery ball of energy hits near them! Two Chitauri warriors have arrived!

The Jesse clone flies into battle and smashes one of the Chitauri through the scoreboard. The other alien blasts Sam through another wall of the stadium.

Sam Alexander realizes that the fight is causing too much property damage and he leads the clone into taking the fight to the sky. Unfortunately, the Chitauri don't follow the Novas and head towards the high school.

Inside the school, the students jump under their desks as the aliens burst through the wall. The two Novas arrive and Sam demands the Chitauri release the teacher they are holding hostage. Sam's friend begins to recognize Nova's voice but doesn't believe the hero could also be Sam.

Meanwhile, Sam and the Jesse clone grab the alien attackers and fly them high into the sky. However, one of the Chitauri activates a self-destruct mechanism on his wrist and both warriors explode!

Both Novas fall from the sky and crash into a deserted warehouse. Suddenly, a man walks up to them with an alien device on his arm. He uses it to remove the helmet off of the clone of Jesse Alexander.

He puts on the helmet. The man stands revealed as a new Jesse clone in a Nova uniform!
