Title: "Shock & Awe"

Inside a Nova Force-generated stargate, the WorldMind informs Nova and Centurions Irani Rael and Morrow that they are twenty seconds from reaching Kree-Lar. The artificial sentience attempts to remind Richard Rider that the tracer signal they are following may not be from his brother Robert Rider. Rich acknowledges the possibility but he is convinced it is Robbie's signal they are tracking on Kree-Lar. Rich instructs the Centurions to prepare for exiting the stargate in three seconds.

Above First City, the capital of Kree-Lar, the three members of the Nova Corps exit the gate and fly straight into the city. Laser fire, massive destruction and monsters are consuming the capital as they land on the surface. Off in the distance, Rich notices a set of cosmic gateways opening throughout the city. When he asks the WorldMind for more analysis, he finds that their communication signal is breaking up.

Nova boosts his visor manification and is stunned to realize that the gateways are coming from the Negative Zone! To make matters worse, troops from the Negative Zone are pouring into First City to reinforce the Shi'Ar assault forces. Centurion Morrow points out that they are outnumbered and on Kree-Lar only to rescue Rich's younger brother. Morrow is worried Nova will decide they have to engage the overwhelming forces in a battle the three of them can't win by themselves.

The Earth hero reassures the Centurions that the plan is to rescue Robbie and get a warning to both Earth and the Galactic Council. Centurion Irani Rael confirms she is still picking up Robert's tracer signal. She is unable to open communications with the younger Rider due to the signal's distortion. As they race towards the center of First City, the three Nova Corps representatives are blasted out of the sky by an intense energy beam! Nova looks up to see that their attacker is Blastaar!

In the Throne Citadel, Rich's younger brother is holding Strontian down on the ground with a gravimetric beam but it is requiring all of his concentration. Robbie informs his prisoner that she is under arrest for war crimes specifically the death of numerous Nova Corps Centurions. Ravenous, the leader of the Ceded Territories, tells Robert that he must keep Strontian captive or she will kill them both. The young Centurion informs Ravenous that, under Article 68 of the Galactic Council Treaty, he wil provide him protection out of the war zone. He accepts and demands to be taken to safety immediately. Unfortunately, Robert Rider requires all of his concentration and effort to maintain the gravimetric bubble. However, he has sent out an 8X8 alarm to the WorldMind and is confident the Nova Corps is on their way to help them. Strontian simply laughs at the idea.

Nearby, Morrow and Irani Rael attack Blastaar and are quickly knocked to the ground by the Cosmic Control Rod. Rich Rider jumps in front of the Centurions while generating a gravimetric shield to protect them. Rich tells Blastaar who he is and reminds him that they fought the Annihilation War together. He also explains that they are only on Kree-Lar to rescue his brother. Nova Prime's plea causes the ruler of the Negative Zone to stop his attack.

Blastaar agrees to give the Centurions fifteen minutes to rescue Rich's brother before he orders his troops to destroy the Throne Citadel. He is determined to show Ravenous that he is the true king of the Negative Zone. Before leaving, Richard Rider asks him how he was able to obtain the Cosmic Control Rod. Blastaar avoids giving a direct answer and simply states that it is his by divine right as king.

After Nova Prime and the Centurions take off for the citadel, the Shi'Ar's Imperial Guard step forward and demand to know why Blastaar gave their enemies time to save the Centurion. The Negative Zone king explains that he felt it would make the situation more fun. The members of the Guard are angry that they are being prevented from helping Strontian. Blastaar is determined not to break his word but also coyly mentions that the Guard are not part of his troops. He decides to give them the same fifteen minutes so they can help their leader.

Back in the citadel, Ravenous grabs a laser cannon and attempts to kill Strontian. However, the blasts only tickle the bald enemy. At the same time, Robert Rider is beginning to tire and his focus is beginning to slip. With his nose bleeding, Robbie realizes he won't be able to hold the gravimetric bubble much longer. Suddenly, the Earth hero hears his brother's voice in his helmet! Richard Rider tells his younger sibling that he is on his way. He's also shocked and proud to hear that Robbie was able to capture Strontian.

Robert Rider tells Rich to hurry and then the channel dies. In a burst of speed, Nova Prime Richard Rider flies through a number of monsters and a pair of heavily fortified doors. The scene that greets him is one of horror as he sees his brother and Ravenous on the ground with Strontian standing over them with blood on her hands.

In a burst of rage and power, Rich flies towards her with pure vengeance in his eyes!
