Anwen Bakian writes in her diary about her family's life. She recalls how life used to be before their world was ravaged by alien invaders. Anwen remembers how things used to smell so good but now thinks that their dog ZigZag is the only who can smell anything now. However, she is grateful that her family has survived when so many others are gone including her mother.

Her father Menzin and sister Fayne arrive as Anwen is completing a sketch of her mother in the diary. She asks her grandfather if it looks like his daughter. He admits that it's been so long that he can't recall her face as clearly as he used to but says that Anwen has talent.

After eating cans of dog food that ZigZag found, the family continues walking through the devastated city. Anwen looks up to see a shadowy figure standing on top of a building. Before anyone else can see it, the figure disappears from view.

Later, the family settles in for the night at a park. However, they can't stay warm with a fire due to the risk of being detected by the aliens. To keep their minds off the cold, Fayne asks her father to tell stories about her mother. Menzin tells his daughter how his wife Eve was smart, beautiful and strong. He also tells her how she only left with the Nova Corps so she could save the Earth from the alien insectoids.

Anwen stops the conversation and argues that her mother never returned because she's dead and the Corps lost the fight. Menzin Bakian tells Anwen she is wrong and needs to keep her voice down. The children's grandfather agrees with Anwen and argues with his son-in-law that his daughter is gone. The two get into a heated argument with the grandfather accusing Menzin of being soft. His son-in-law points out that he wasn't too soft to save his life more than once.

Anwen yells at both of them to shut up. However, it's too late. Their yelling has attracted the alien bugs!

Menzin and Fayne run in one direction while the grandfather, Anwen and ZigZag run in another. Just as Anwen is about to be attacked, she's saved by the elderly man who hits the alien with his crutch. However, a group of flying insectoids appear and one of them grabs Anwen as they fly away.

In the air, Anwen Bakian can see her grandfather run into a pipe to avoid an alien. She falls onto another flying bug while another attacker picks up the pipe containing her grandfather. Anwen jumps from the insectoid onto the pipe and crawls inside.

Meanwhile, Menzin, Fayne and ZigZag barely dodge an alien's energy blast and keep running for safety. The trio approach a makeshift bridge and begin crossing over a concrete gully. As they get a third of the way over, a large flying bug lands on the other end and the group of three fly over the bug and onto the ground on the other side.

Back in the pipe, Anwen holds on tight to her grandpa. The attacking bug finally gives up and drops the pipe which sends it rolling across a debris field. The concrete container cracks open and the elderly man falls out. He tells his granddaughter to stay in the pipe and then run out the other side while he runs the other way to distract the alien insectoids.

The grandfather tells Anwen that she's a great artist and starts to run. The female Bakian runs out of the pipe and down the street as fast as she can. A flying bug sees her and begins chasing her. Just as it is about to grab her, the ground crumbles and Anwen falls into a deep hole.

In horror, Anwen Bakian realizes she has fallen into an alien bug nest!

She looks around to find a number of the alien eggs have opened and the creatures are crawling towards her. She also notices a number of dead Nova Corps bodies along the wall including a Nova Prime!

As one of the creatures attacks, Anwen finds herself full of rage towards the aliens and her mother. She releases her anger at Eve leaving them by beating the creature to a bloody pulp. Inside the dead alien, the young girl finds a blue glowing rock.

Pocketing the gem, the tired fighter climbs out of the nest to see what looks like blue lightning crossing the sky. The energy ignites all the alien attackers in the area!

Anwen Bakian turns to see the source of the power standing in front of her. It's Eve Bakian in her Nova uniform!

Inside a nearby condemned building, the shadowy figure has returned. It's Thanos and he's holding a mysterious red gem!
