On the Guardians of the Galaxy's starship, an angry Gamora prepares to leave the team in anger. She feels betrayed by Peter Quill and Drax when they kept the truth about Richard Rider and the events in the Cancerverse.

Along with Groot, Drax and Rocket Raccoon, Gamora sits and Peter begins to tell the rest of his story.

In the Cancerverse, the Revengers have gained control of the Cosmic Cube. When Peter informs them that people from his universe cannot die in theirs, the Revenger Captain America wants to test the theory and unleashes a blast of cube energy at them. Before it can hit the group, Nova flies in and grabs Star-Lord and Drax with his one remaining arm!

The Revengers decide to torture Thanos who remains behind. Captain America blasts the mad Titan and the rest of the Revengers surround the fallen foe.

Meanwhile, Richard Rider admits to his friends that they made a mistake coming to the Cancerverse. Weakened from loss of blood, Rich reveals to Peter that he always wanted to have kids in the future. As he comforts his injured friend, Star-Lord asks Drax to see who is winning the battle between the Revengers and Thanos.

Drax witnesses an incredible explosion of energy and sees Thanos emerge victorious from the fight with the Cosmic Cube in hand! The sworn enemy of the mad Titan runs towards him for a final confrontation.

Just as Drax is about to punch Thanos, Nova and Star-Lord fire energy blasts at their friend's foe. The combination of the two blasts and Drax's punch is enough to cause Thanos to drop the cube. However, Thanos is still able to grab Drax and throw him a great distance.

The intense battle comes down to Rich and Peter unleashing a barrage of blasts on Thanos as he continues to make his way to the Cosmic Cube! As Thanos crawls his way towards his goal, Drax appears with the Revenger Thor's hammer and begins beating him with it!

In the distraction, Richard Rider stands and retrieves the Cosmic Cube. With a powerful force of will, Nova uses the cube to knock out Thanos!

Rich makes his friends promise to never reveal what he is about to tell them. The young hero admits that he loves Gamora and has for some time. He also expresses his regrets of not having reformed the Nova Corps, having kids or being an Avenger. But he does know he can do one thing.

Richard Rider knows he can use the Cosmic Cube and the entire Nova Force to get his friends home.

Nova opens a doorway back to his universe but tells Peter he can't return because he has to keep the door open. The group of heroes go through the doorway. At the same time, Thanos awakens and jumps through the door at the last moment. Back in their universe and completely exhausted, Thanos and Peter silently agree to part ways.

Back in the present, Peter emphasizes that Drax and he were keeping Rich's promise by not telling her the truth. Rich wanted the truth to be a secret because he loved Gamora. Peter kept the promise because he loved Rich. Star-Lord's final point to Gamora is that everyone on the team also loves her. He tells his teammate that if she still wants to leave, she is free to go.

Gamora walks away so the Guardians of the Galaxy can't see her cry.
